    Our Independence Day is this Sunday
 July 4th.  Lets celebrated with appreciation and thanksgiving to all those that fought for our freedom and are still fighting today. Our land was founded on the brave who wanted to secure a better place for us. 


 Teens "Think ahead"    

This is suppose to be a time spent with family or friends celebrating our freedom. Because it is summer and a holiday many teens and adults find themselves in a dangerous if not deadly situation. 


  • Go in groups: Don't walk around alone. It's dark, a lot of people are around, fireworks are going off and it's noisy. This makes it easier for someone to grab you and no one really knows what is going on.  
  • Don't except a drink from a stranger or a friend. GET IT YOURSELF!! The date rape drug including other drugs can be slipped into you're drink even by someone you thought you could trust.
  • Designate a sober driver. "Buzzed driving is still drunk driving." www.AdCouncil.org
  • Who can you call: Have your cell phone ready to call a parent or trusted adult to pick you up if you find yourself somewhere you don't want to be.   
  • No Trunk driving. It is dangerous to ride around in a trunk of a car and illegal.  Teens are doing this to get around the law of not having anyone else in the car with till you are of age.

Parents be aware of these games your teens might be participating in.
During the summer months while your teen is going over to friends houses, staying the night and going to party's (even if they say it is a party without drinking) you must be aware of some of these terms either on your teens cell phone, online chat or regular conversation.  Sources are cited below to click on and get more inforamtion.
  • Fish bowl parties are illegal and dangerous also know as "trail mix" or "pharming"(taking pills from parents medicine cabinet).  Teens bring a handful of pills and put them into a bowl. Everyone takes a few and pops them. You don't know what you get.  Side effects and over dose are just a few of the dangers especially if your a drinking alcohol.
  • Rainbow parties are not party's full of colored candy. Help your teen protect their purity, integrity and mind from these sort of parties. 
  • Nervous Game:  This is a game where the guy gets to touch a girl as far as he wants till she tell him it makes  her nervous. NOT COOL! Help your teen to see they should never let guys or girls take advantage of their purity. Several girls have reported that the guy didn't stop when they said it made them nervous. Guys this could happen to you as well. 
  • Choking, airplaning, space cowboys, space monkeys, dreaming game, purple dragon are just a few names for the choking game where you make yourself pass out.  87% of 11 to 16 year old boys have participate in this, 96% have died from this while they were alone. This is a deadly game that can do more damage than kill brain cells.
